scriptwriting & video production

In addition to radio and TV scripts, I’ve written a keynote script for a globally broadcasted event and long-form narrative scripts for internal communications. I’ve overseen all phases of production and post production, including scripting, casting, scouting locations, choosing directors, shooting, and working with editors, audio engineers, and motion graphics designers.

Microsoft Matters (internal training and promotion for Microsoft’s Marketing Learning team)

We were invited to pitch for the scriptwriting and production of a new video series for Microsoft Marketing Learning. The clients wanted a narrative approach, that was both entertaining and informative, to be used for training and recruiting marketing employees. I recommended bringing more realism, narrative tension, and sophistication to the story and ensure that the video positively reflects Microsoft, one of the leading brands in the world. As a result of my feedback on the client’s initial scripts and our team’s perspective on production, we won the work. I wrote a 20-page script, collaborated with clients and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, and oversaw every step of production and post. It was a big hit with the clients and their organization.

Microsoft Trust Code (ethics & compliance annual required training for all employees)

This project was in its seventh season when I got involved and it was beloved by Microsoft employees around the world. I collaborated with a fellow writer to craft the 20+ page script for two seasons, weaving together storytelling and required learning material. For the 2023 season, I oversaw production and post, crafting the teaser as well as the series of videos.

Meta Black History Month (internal social videos about micro-aggressions)

A prospective client at Meta approached us in December and asked if we could produce a series of videos for them to run on their internal social channels by February 1st. My answer was, “Yes, let me come back to you with approaches that can be executed with so little time.” I provided three distinct techniques for visual storytelling and recommended a TikTok approach, where Black employees used their phones to record themselves describing micro-aggressions they’ve experienced at work, such as having their hair touched by strangers. The clients loved the idea, and we executed three videos, adding graphics and animations to bring the stories to life. I provided creative direction to the freelance writer and the illustrator, guiding both the script and the graphics, and recommending the music. The result was authentic and powerful—and completed on time for a fraction of what a traditional video shoot would cost.

Salesforce Tableau Iron Viz (Tableau Keynote event)

For the 2024 Iron Viz Event in San Diego, California, I wrote a 20-page script that introduced the theme, hosts, contestants, sous-vizzers (Tableau experts), judges, prizes, and winner. The hosts modified the script to match their personal sense of humor and voice. The event was seen by a live audience at the event in San Diego and a global virtual audience of 100K.
