B2B Campaign
Oracle wanted developers to see them in a new light—as a fun community and a partner in helping them build cool stuff. Our goal was to increase engagement with developers and have some fun together while they learned what they could do with Oracle Cloud and our apps. On Pi Day, no less.
My task was to create a campaign that would resonate with developers, and stand out on a day that’s inundated with Pi day messages and pie puns. So, we created a concept that was completely unique, and a little out there. The World of Pi.
It started with a conversation. A designer and I were talking about unexpected, surreal things: Lucy in the sky with diamonds, psychedelic posters, and other ways to look at this irrational number, Pi. The designer came back with this early sketch and I knew we had something—a whole new reality where everything is irrational. We played off of the Raspberry Pi processor used by developers and a raspberry character emerged.
Pi Day, 3/14/22, marked Oracle’s first global Pi Day event. It started after dawn in Australia and ended when the sun set in the U.S., featuring technical demos and hands-on labs, including some sessions in Portuguese and Spanish. Oracle partnered with AlmaLinux, featured a demo from Ampere, and had a developer presenter as well (#JavaOnRaspberryPi).
